Summary

We attempted to design a beautiful and useful planter for your next bonsai (which we happen to love). It took several months to find the right plant to fit the planter box. This model, along with others, can be downloaded from http://www.gcreate.com/downloads/. The photos show the planter printed at 200% although we could have printed it larger, which we will do as the plant grows.
We are uploading a shelled model as well as a solid model. When printing the solid model you should set the infill to 0% and you have to cut out the top (or stop the print before it prints the top). The shelled model prints great at the full scale or 2x scale but it may be too thin at half scale.
Depending on your printer you may or may not require support. This was printed on the gMax printer at several scales and it didn't require any support just keep in mind the overhangs are over 80 degrees. Also the base has no drain holes which you may want to add.
Hope you enjoy and we can't wait to see what people fill the planter with.
*Note:
The model was created in 3ds Max 2011 but due to the export/unit issues the model is scaled up by 2540%. You may have to scale down by .0393701 depending by your slicer software. In slic3r 1.1.6 it loads correctly.

As mentioned in the description, you may require support depending on your printer setup. It prints fine, without support, on the gMax printer.

hello this was a cool print. I made a small 1 an a large 1.

Thank you for the link. We have contacted ebay to have the listing removed. Funny, all the person had to do was give us attribution and a link. Guess it was too much work.

I made the high res remix version of this for a friend and then wanted the pass along how beautiful and elegant they thought it was.

Great work!. Email us at [email protected] if you want the original 3ds max file.

On the underside of the pot where the plant sits prints out rough and seems slightly thinner than the rest of the model. Would printing with supports in that spot fix this? Or does this pot need more than 3 shells? Thanks!

I printed with 5 shells and it seemed OK. Mine was a little rough without supports so I would recommend them.

Can you upload a higher resolution file? you can see the individual faces of the 3D file on the printed object...

I saved him the bother :) have just uploaded a 22mb high res remix.

Awesome Gordon being featured on Thingiverse. :)

Thank you Gordon. I'm going to plant a baby Venus Flytrap in it.

Thank you so much Julia. We uploaded many models to our website for our customers just like you :) Enjoy therm

Beautiful shape, Gordon, well done. Something for my gMax :)
