Summary

A box with rounded corners and lid. Many parameters can be adjusted in the .scad file included.

Instructions

Small box pictured is printed with the value in the included .scad file, except that $fa=10. Both boxes printed with 2 shells, layer height 0.27 mm and 5% infill.

Both the box and lid can be a bit hard to remove from baseplate as they have a huge contact area. This especially goes for large boxes.

Note that roundness must be higher than thickness.

Good design and relatively easy to use.
Any thoughts on smoothing the rounded edges a bit more? I'm looking for a near fully squared edge and with the lack of comments in the code I'm trying to figure out the method to the madness and your help will be appreciated.

How do I get Open SCAD to render this?

It works as is for me, but it tkae s10-20 minutes (due to the Minkowski statements).

Have you changed any of the parameters? I think it will fail if roundness<thickness 2*roundness="" if="" or="">height (or width or depth).</thickness>

I had no idea it would take 20 minutes. I never had a chance to change anything. I just loaded and rendered and then nothing. In fact, right away I would get "not responding" so I gave up. I'll try again.

Yeah, I, too, was perplexed that the Minkowski took so long. Mine says something like "processing uncached Minkowski statement" in the staus box, on the right, under the picture frame. If yours says that too, I would wait and see if something happens. You could try to increase $fa, I think that would make it much faster, but the round parts will be much more edgy. Try setting $fa=20.
