This seems to be working like a champ.
I printed it with 3 shells and a 20% fill.

I printed a couple versions of this spool holder to hold inexpensive PLA filament spools that have different dimensions than the MakerBot spools.
The result seems to work well, but I do have one suggestion.
I believe the design could be improved by doubling the height of the
bracket-end top-side spool shoulder
and adding a similarly sized
bracket-end bottom-side spool shoulder.
This would better control the position of inexpensive (and sometimes
slightly warped) filament spools.
