Description
There are many ways to hold an LMxUU bearing. This is mostly a conceptual presentation of one that I (surprisingly) haven't seen yet. Simply print this part and clip retaining rings into the slots on the LMxUU bearing. No more breaking clamps or bearing slippage. Ever wonder what those slots on the LMxUU bearing were for? Now you know!
Instructions
The scad file is parametric and can be used for any style LMxUU bearings. Just print it off, pop on the appropriate retaining ring and you're done. A simple, robust and elegant way to hold LMxUU bearings.
The picture shows an LM8UU bearing with a 5/8" retaining clip. I'm pretty sure the actual size should be 15mm retaining clips, but I just bought the closest thing I could find at the hardware store and it worked well.
Update: Make sure you get standard size retaining rings and not "heavy duty". The heavy duty ones are too thick to fit the lm8uu slots
