The back area between the two uprights is meant for a scratch pad and the front part is meant for a sponge. The little triangle is supposed to help keep the sponge elevated and therefore dry out better so it is less of a cesspool of filth. I was trying to make the upright so they did not need support but still looked decent and were not just posts. this may or may not work. I will let you know.
