Description

just a simple scalable button with a curved round edge and four holes. scale, print as many as you need, then sew them on your clothing or bags or furnishings. update: see instructions.

Instructions

update: added button07, slightly thicker than the last button. this took a lot of tweaking of skeinforge to print well, even after the calibration of my machine. to maybe help someone else's tweaking, i added the gcode i used with the best print of button07 on my batch 8 makerbot with a heated build platform (hardwired to 12V), with a mk4 plastruder, raftless.

Neat, I designed and printed a similar button (less curvy) and it came out fine in silver PLA:

Have you successfully printed this? I have a parametric button design (with some fun additions), but I've been sitting on it until I have a successful print to show off.

yep printed, uploaded some shots from test prints. the gcode below is the button on the right in both pics, with the best print quality.

why is it hard to print a button?

Since the advent of MakerBots
&
amp; etc, why do buttons need to have 2 holes or 4 holes? 2 or 4 holes are related to automated machine installation. Why not 3 or 5, etc as it pushes designs to be more soulcraft.

i put up four as i couldn't find a generic button on thingiverse. feel free to mod it to five or three or 17 holes :) that's the beauty of cc designs.
