Description

Hello everyone,

I finally was able to get a hold of a 3D printer (Solidoodle 2), so I will soon start corrections and improvements to the plane.

happy printing...

Update#2-

Ok guys, almost done getting my SD2 fully calibrated to start the new phase of this project. Thank you for being patient with me.

update#3-

Hello all,

Sorry, but life has kept me away from this project. Hope to have time soon.

Thank you for your patience...

This is really awesome. Is this ready to print as just a model? I work for GA-ASI and this would be perfect to show off my printer.

it still needs work. Once I receive my solidoodle in a month, I will start to work on this project again. Planning to have a plane done by the summer time. hope to...

Please, let me make some obs. here:
If the idea is to have a static model, it´s ok.

But as a rc flying models designer, with 19 years know how, let me warning you that it will be very heavy.
All the UAV fuselage must be very light, and the solution would be a thin external wall and a X internal structure as reinforcement.

Yes, I totally agree. But Please be mindful, that this is a concept idea. which I started at the start of my learning 3D designing, 2 years ago. and was also new to RC planes

Hopefully soon, I will have time to correct my rookie mistakes :)

Also, the design was from google Sketchup 3d warehouse. I got too ahead of my self when I started this.

Btw, with a low infill, the whole fuselage was surprisingly light in weight. Ill try to wieght it and post results.

I am very open to peoples suggestions and derivatives of this work. And now that I finally got a 3D printer that actually works "solidoodle" for Christmas, I can now continue this venture. So, please join me :)

Having problems with some of the files anybody have any ideas?

hello, sorry for the slow response. which file are you having trouble with?

Having problems with some of the files anybody have any ideas?

I am new to the site just wondering what program one would need to use in order to view downloaded files?

replicatorG, or google sketchup with STL plug-in

Were still followin ya!

Id also like to state that this is quite coincidental to one of my WAY earlier posts on the site. http://diydrones.com/profiles/...

I wish I would have seen your post, I would have started this project a long time ago...lol

But one of my main reasons why I want to get this done, is that I'm tired of dealing with Chinese RC plane manufactures that are always out of stock... Lets start making stuff here, in the land of the free... :)

Perfect!! now everytime it crashes...i can just print out the pieces i need!

yes, thats the main idea I was going for with this project.. :)

WOW! Drone parts off of my MakerBot. Printing now! Are you just using hot glue to attach the pieces?

This are all experimental pieces. So, i'm first going to try with hot glue to see if its strong enough. if not, I'm going to design attachments to each piece and a hole for a carbon fiber rod.

Ok just ran into an issue with the frontal lobe, by the looks of things it tries to print out two tiny lines at the nose of the frontal lobe and then moves up a layer to print out the entire perimeter. Looking over the file in sketchup and pleasant 3D I do not see any issues. These are the exact same files you used to print so far right?
