According to Sun Smart guidelines, broad brim hats should have a 75mm brim and bucket hats should have a 60mm brim.
Here is a useful go / no go measure for schools and day care centres to quickly check their students' hats meet these guidelines. Each measure one has its dimension market on it, and a hole to attach to a lanyard.
