Description
In the process of building robots i wanted to explore the use of Ultrasonic sensors for more than just obstacle avoidance. The goal is to identify door openings. I realized i had no idea how to do this. I also realized I wanted to offload some of the sensor work to another processor. This test bed was created to develop the software for navigation. In its final form I hope to create a more compact package.
Instructions
1. Print the parts
2. The assembly process is pretty self evident . I did have to drill out the holes on the servo arm so that M1 hardware would allow it to be mounted to the Servo Horn .
3. The Target board requires just the crystals and caps to be soldered in . In addition i mounted two three pin headers for the sensor and servo.Of course you will also need to mount a 6 pin header for programming
4. The RS232 converter connects to the SIO ports on the 2313
5. The file Ultrasonic.zip file contains the AVR 4 Studio files to build the project . Hopefully the code is commented well enough to follow.
5. I use a terminal emulation program to monitor the output
