Also, that's an interesting setup!
At first glance, I would have guessed having the X/Y steppers tugging on the filament would cause problems, but given that you're using such a setup, it seems reasonable to assume it works just fine. :)
yeah the setup has turned swapping filament from a chore to an absolute breeze- no problems whatsoever in terms of X/Y tugging issues from any of the spools (regardless of position on coat hanger)
the small piece of hard straw guiding the filament to the other replicator below also has been working flawlessly since I set this up a few months ago
i would definitely appreciate an interlocking mechanism but would prefer, instead, that each spool holder was shaped like a U - so that one does not rely on the next and filament can be swapped out without disturbing neighboring holders- the U would also have to utilize an interlocking mechanism (to load // unload the spool). anyone care to give designing it a shot?
Hmm, it looks like the design could be changed so it hooks into the next holder in the chain, thus removing most of the strength requirements.
To simplify the interactions between multiple sizes, there could just be double the parts, so each spool gets both an axle and axle-support.
Yeah, I agree. Maybe it could be a sliding link that you move forward and backwards to interconnect each one. Then that would get rid of the slight sagging from the weight of the spool. I think the only limitation would be that the holders would all have to be the same height. Not a deal breaker though.

Very nice! Thanks for taking it to the next iteration.
