This thing can be customized with MakerBot Customizer! Open in Customizer

Description

This is a conic ice scraper, use it to clean your windows in winter!

More than that, it's easily customized either in OpenSCAD or the Makerbot Customizer.

It's also my first real attempt to make an object using OpenSCAD, so hopefully you like it.

For those who aren't interested in playing with OpenSCAD or the Customizer I have uploaded two STLs, one with the open hardware logo (icescraper.stl) and one without (icescrapernologo.stl). They've both been run through netfabb for a clean up and should be ready to print.

This thing is a "work in progress" for the moment because the Customizer doesn't seem to want to work with my text fields. For the moment, if you want text on the surface of your scraper, you'll have to pull the scad file and make the changes that way.

Instructions

Print at a high infill percentage (greater than 60%) and without support. It should print just fine that way.

The file here will print two pieces, the conic body and the handle - the handle is hidden inside of the conic body in the previews, but when you load it up in your printing software you can shift your view around to see it. After printing merely clean the square holes in the handle (if needed), dump some superglue or ABS juice into the holes, and push the handle onto the connecting pegs.

For those of you who wish to customize this in OpenSCAD the comments should make clear what does what, but for reference:

text_box contains the upper arc of text
box_text contains the lower arc of text
raised sets whether the printed text will be raised or incised into the surface
logo toggles the open hardware logo on and off
