Description

This is a takeoff of Wired1's excellent OB1.4. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:41967 I call it the OB14 because it has a 14x14x14 build area.

Could you please send me the DXF files for some reason I can not open them.
There is an easy way to find the motor wire pairs, just hold two bare leads together and spin the motor shaft. If they are a pair the motor shaft will be hard to turn.
I used marlin.
you'll have to check with the motor supplier, normal colors are red, blue, green, black for 2B 2A 1A 1B.
all of them if you want to copy it.

Hey. I was wondering if you could answer some questions i have.
1. What firmware are you using for the Arduino?
2.My stepper motors wire are Blue,Green,Yellow,Red. Where do i connect the too? Like 2B 2A 1A 1B
3. What files should i print from your files that are not on Wired1s page?

can you post the x carrier? the custom one you made.
all i did was drill thru the 2 holes in wired1's ob1.4 x carrier.
do you remember what the direct drive extruder you printed? you said in the first video that you printed it for a different or older printer.just wondering if it is a file on thingiverse?

Are you using a jhead hot end? If so, what size nozzle/filament and where did you source our hot end from? I'm getting clumping/clogging and am trying to track down the issue.

I've got the .35 version from Makerfarm, maybe I'll switch to the .5 to see if I can get that working better. Are you running 3mm or 1.75 filament?

3mm. I used to run a .35 nozzle and noticed it runs much better with a .5 now, extrudes much easier.
Good to know. I may switch if I continue to have problems with the bowden tube...the .5 would require less force, putting less pressure on the nuts at the end of the bowden tube.
Added a video showing the printer making parts that wouldn't fit on the old prusa.

What are you using for smooth rods, hardened, stainless, etc?
the part#'s to mcmaster.com are farther down, it's precision ground hardened O1 toolsteel.
ah...found it. Any good source for the lm8's and 10's? Seems to be alot of variance out there and difficult to find a smooth bearing at a reasonable price.

Added stl's for a tall RAMPS fan mount and the Aux Fan parts.
Use M3 screws with washers and lock nuts for the aux fan.
Could we have the cutting lengths for the rails?
click read more in the instruction to see the extrusion lengths and there is a dxf in the download that has the dimensions for the round stock. the majority of the BOM is what wired1 lays out for the ob1.4 and you need his parts rto build the main frame, mine are just my additions to his great design.
This is nice, I hope the BOM is coming soon. This is one I would like to build,
Added pics and stl's for the angled ramps mount and the big switch box.
Tomorrow makes 5 weeks since I started the OB14 build and today we have first movements.

Plenty more still to calibrate and finish, have some perforated sheet metal to make a cover for the electronics.
nearly have the wiring done so this thing should come alive very soon.

BOM says 210mm glass which is 8.26 inches.
Added a pic and stl for "base corner braces" to stiffen the frame
What motors are you using for this project? I did not see any reference to that information.

Thank you for the update Hoss. I am needing someone to do the plastic printing for the parts so I can build my 1st machine. So if anyone is interested in printing them for me I would surely compensate if the price is right.

Posted a link for the new video OB14 3D Printer LCD Y Axis 24V RAMPS and added stl's for a better Y motor 50mm fan mount and the LCD mounts.
I'm waiting on a package won on ebay from reprapdiscount, new 24 volt ramps, 24v mk2 heatbed, GT2 belts and pulleys and Smart LCD.
How did you like the kit from reprapdiscount?

I'm looking at your setup for the spools as well. Nice job!
uploaded a new y carriage lower.dxf with the holes for the belt mount slightly adjusted. A new video tomorrow will explain the need for it when installing the y motor and idler inside the frame and retain full travel.
Nice variant! I have ordered 10x1000mm openbeam lengths and plan on
using your design. I have the Smart LCD and love it, had a small issue
with the LCD pot being SUPER sensitive but it works. Looking forward to
more videos and updates :)
