Laser Hinge, and a fashionable braclet
by jtvantuyl, published
This little ditty was cut from 1/4 inch balsam fir ply. It demonstrates a nice hinge or spring. The joint was a little loose ( I was going for a press fit); I underestimated the kerf of the laser.
The wee holes not only make it look awesome, they will help to keep down stresses and increase flexibility. There is a little bit of charring evident, which looks cool in this application, but shows that the cutter needs a bit more tuning.
Sorry about the file format, if you don't have something that can open it. Its more fun to make your own anyway!
