Description

Inspired by the Ultimaker UltiController’s streamlined curved wood design, this is the answer to pen chaos on your desk. While an eye candy of rhythmically roasted and bent wood, it cradles your pens for your ultimate convenience.

Made by Alessandro @ Fab Lab Zurich

Instructions

We used 4 mm thick plywood and laser cut the design straight forward. The puzzle pieces are calculated to hold rather firmly and the bended parts have to stretch around the rounded corners to be in tension and secure the structure. Assembly is a bit tricky, as you have to bend and stretch the flexible parts and at the same time put together the puzzle pieces. The upper and lower notches could be a little deeper to accomodate the upper ring and base better, but it works all in all.

It can also be used as a vase for flowers without water!

Hi Alessandro
Its a nice pencil holder.
Unfortunately your .dxf file does not work with lasers, which make finer cuts than yours. The .dxf seems to have been generated for a beam width of 0.3mm. However most lasers make thinner cuts. The funlab's laser beam with is below 0.1mm. When I cut your .dxf, the parts dont fit. Usually people also upload the .scad file and not only the .dxf.
