Filament Spool Holder by spencers Feb 21, 2013

Description

A beautiful replacement filament spool holder for the Replicator 2 that holds all size spools (we've bought PLA from MakerBot, Amazon, and MakerFarm - so we 4-5 different size spools). More functional than the one you get with the Replicator 2, and much prettier.

Great start. Thanks for a good base to work from. I added a lip and tapered it to fit any spool type. It's posted. :-)
I printed this but found that without a lip at the end the spool seems to work its way to the end and sometimes causes some tangles. FYI - Maybe add a lip - nice design though!!!
whoa, that look a lot like the one i made becouse i had the same problem, but i kept the octogonal shape and made the walls a little thicker, gonna post it soon.

Instructions

Take the spool holder off of your maker bot, put this one in the same slot the old one came out of. It will tip up at a 5° angle to ensure the spool doesn't slide off during a print.

I had success with Replicator 2 print settings set to: • Medium Quality • 10% fill • 3 shells • 0.2mm layer height • No supports

Was not able to print it lying down like that. Maybe it has to do with me printing in ABS. Did you print it with a raft? I decided to print it standing up with raft and support.
could you be so good as to post the actual STL instead of the thing?

WIth a thing I need to extract twice, then go to 6 subfolders, before finding the actual STL file.
