Description

A fish alerting device for Ice Fishing with Tip Ups and automatic hook set systems.

Ideal for bite notification when fishing during the day (loud buzzer) and at night (high brightness LED).

You know the feeling, you're in the ice hut but you can't see your tip-up outside, or you are monitoring a few tip-ups and go to set a line and don't notice a tip-up has flagged. This device solves these issues and also enables you to fish at night.

It will work with most tip-ups that have a spring loaded rod with a flag.

It's simple, consisting of a mercury level switch, buzzer, led, switch, resistor and battery and costs just under $9 to make.

To use, point "Fish-On Now!" down and push the switch forward to switch on. Then when it moves above level, it will buzz and light the LED. Flick the switch off to shut it up whilst setting your tip-ups.

Consult your own regulations for permitted use (I don't know of any that don't allow it).

Note: The automatic hook setter shown also in this picture is available in a newer version at: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:77050

This is awesome! I don't fish with tip ups and automatic hook set systems but fishing is my life and I love this thing. Nice job. I am new to 3D printing but already have lots of ideas for fishing equipment I will print. Best regards.

Instructions

  1. Use Customizer to choose your rod or tip-up diameter.

  2. Print at 50% fill and 2 shells

  3. Solder components together to fit in shell as per schematic

  4. Use copious amounts of hot glue to put components in place on one side of the shell, making sure you can remove the battery and you haven't put glue on the mating surface.

  5. Put the other half of the shell on, the rod holder and use the 2 clips (rectangles) over either end to hold it all together.

  6. Wrap a small piece of duct tape around the mounting position on your tip-up (this stops it rotating)

  7. Use 2 cable ties to attach "Fish-On Now!" to your tip-up.
