parametric plywood filament spool
Description
Yet another filament spool that you can cut out of wood or acrylic. Uses CNC captive nut joinery. One novelty here is the adjustability of the tightness of the filament mounting based on slot choice at assembly time. The staggered rows of slots give a wide variety of mounting positions.
Instructions
I cut this out of 1/4" plywood with my oversized shapeoko.
Necessary Hardware (based on default parameters):
6 x (10mm M5 bolt + nut + washer)
Optional:
2 x 608 bearing
Press bearings in. Choose the set of holes for the rib bolts based on desired tightness of ribs against filament.
The default parameters were chosen to be about the same size as a 1kg makerbot spool. They are untested since my prototype (in the photo) used less reasonable dimensions.
