Hi there Chylld. I'm curious to know how you increased the resolution on MakeALot's STL - did you regenerate the object or subdivide the mesh on his STL?
I've created an OpenSCAD model to generate similar shapes, based on:

However it's painfully slow to render and I hoped you had a shortcut!
Cheers

The problem with open source tools is the seductive thought that anything you can imagine, you can do for free. So I implemented the algorithm as a tool script in Art of Illusion, and it's WAAAAAY quicker and higher resolution. I may tweak further to get the distortion effects but for now I need some sleep.

I do really love this object, it never fails to confuse my friends, "how does a 3D printer make THAT??". Also, it happens to be one of the very first things I printed.
I thought I'd share a picture of mine still on the printer, before any cleaning up. Printed supportless/raftless as you can see; didn't come out too poorly!
I printed one of these with support, then spent ten minutes or so with an X-acto knife cleaning it up. In the end I gave it a dip in acetone. Made it look much better. You can see it in the pic at http://pics.livejournal.com/re...

Looks like someone stole your derivative design and put it up for sale on the new Cubify website: http://cubify.com/store/model_...
It's similar, but geometrically different... but only slightly.
Would be nice if someone could comment on that page with a link back here?
