Instructions

In reaction to the ban on Guy Fawkes masks for the people of Bahrain I read about yesterday on http://new-aesthetic.tumblr.com, I thought it would be practical if they could print, cut and glue a version from an online source.

Many thanks to Kongorilla for the Low Poly mask.
I will upload a fold-out soon.

I encountered a glitch in the model.
My software shows black for one side of the model and white for the other. The right part of moustache was black instead of white. I don't know if this will affect printing I just thought Id let you know.

IS this paper or plastic?

The image you see is a render, I tried to make a fold-out in paper but it was just too complex.
Rather than simplifying the mask I chose a different approach which I just finished and that works brilliantly!
Stay tuned, it is a matter of days now, also working on a nice bonus-feature for the download section :-)

I'm not sure what software you originally drew it in, but solid works has a sheet metal option where you can turn a solid body into a flat pattern. I'll mess with it and see if I can make anything happen.

I am working on a fold-out plan for a stencil so you can quickly trace, cut and glue a mask for yourself and your friends. I recon it will take a day or three.

did you ever get to that?

DNVDK - in reply to jaeh

I did, and it turned out to be a really complex puzzle with a lot of tiny sharp corners to fold. This doesn't mean I quit the research because a much more exiting design came out of this.
Stay tuned, will post that here in a week/couple weeks when definitive testing is done. : )

Could you possibly send me the fold out plan, I'd love to have a go at it as I love this mask! Amazing work!

I gave it a try in Pepakura and 123D Make but both had a real hard time with the angles in the nose, eyebrows and mouth.
I made a working prototype of an alternative version that I will share in the coming weeks.
In the mean time, feel free to experiment with the downloadable documents!

Oh ok I get what you mean, I've worked in 123D before so I get. Thanks for replying! And good luck with this alternate version! Can't wait :D
