Customizable Magnetic Jars by walter Mar 6, 2013

Description

This was designed as a spice jar you could fill with your favorite spice and stick on your refrigerator. In addition to setting the size and tilt, the customizer lets you add holes for magnets, add a label to the jar or lid, or add holes in the lid to use it as a salt/pepper shaker.

This uses the same twist on lid mechanism as http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:56910

By combining the files, I meant attach them to the same thingiverse object (create a lid and jar, then download the lid, edit the jar thing to add the lid stl file). That way both stl files are in the same place, makes them easier to find. I'll adjust the wording to make it more clear.

I wish there was a way for the customizer to generate multiple stl objects in one pass, but I don't think that's currently supported.
How do you combine the two stl files?

Instructions

Use the customizer to generate the lid and jar parts separately. If you publish the results, attaching the two stl files (lid and jar) into a single thing will make it easier for others to match the parts.

For a clear window on the lid, I've been printing a single layer at high temperature (about 270 degrees for clear ABS).

If you have problems with the lid fitting, use the "part gap" parameter to adjust how tightly the lid fits.

For most settings, the parts should be printable without support material.
