Summary

Update v1.1: Added an optional smaller handle to speed up print times and an orientation indicator so you know which way you're stamping!

I was recently asked by my local library to design a one inch wax seal for their summer reading program. I designed the stamp in Sketchup before realizing that this would be a great candidate for Customizer!

Big thanks to Benjamin for his awesome stencil creator.

It's not working for me. The stamp-oh-matic code I'm using isn't working, and I'm getting an error when I try to create it. About a week ago it was working for me though.

Any idea how to make the stencil go deeper? I'm trying to create one with a single letter but it's not deep enough. I need to be able to sand the bottom smooth (The printers first few layers are essentially crud) but if I do that, the letter won't be deep enough.

Any help is much appreciated.

thanks.

It may have been down temporarily, but it seems to be working OK now.

Figured it out, thanks man!

Nice work on the customizer. My question is has anyone had any luck with wax? When I tried it I found the wax had a higher affinity for the plastic stamp than the paper. We sampled all 3 or 4 sealing waxes we had as well as nylon and pla. Maybe I just need to convince my wife that I need a metal SLS printer.

I've had some mixed success with spraying the stamp with cooking spray before stamping in wax. Also letting the wax cool a bit before stamping helps. The plastic printed stamps also work great with clays/sugru/model magic.

I had a stamp printed in metal from Shapeways and it worked pretty much perfectly in wax.

Let me check my emails, I think I have a shape ways coupon somewhere.

I love the irony of the thing! Advanced state of the art web enabled design and manufacturing technology used to produce a Mesopotamian era communication tool. I want to work on my solar powered GPS enabled accelerometer driven pocket sundial.

Not to mention, the original point of a seal was the stamper couldn't be duplicated -- making it a mark of authenticity. An automatically printable wax seal is like an automatically printable house-key.

...which we have here too, actually.

I suppose, like wax seals, they'll be reduced to art items eventually.

Bah, you beat me too it. Nice work! This was what I was working off of. You should think about adding a single letter on the seal for customizer.
