Customizable Magnetic Hinge Box by walter Mar 9, 2013

Description

Customizable box that uses magnets as a hinge and to keep it closed. You can customize the size of the box, and the size of the cylindrical magnets to use.

The attached STL files are designed to use 2mm (diameter) x 3mm (height) magnets.

Where do you get your green filament? I just love that particular lime green hue!

Thanks. I'll be sure to order from your friend when I'm ready to do so. :)

Any small cylindrical rare earth magnets should work. I prefer the 3mm (diameter) x 3mm (height) magnets for hinges. For larger boxes, I'd probably try 4-5mm diameter magnets.

There's a bunch of sellers on amazon (A friend of mine is selling some at http://www.amazon.com/s/url=se... , but I think the 3x3 cylinders are out of stock). Just search for "rare earth" or "neodymium" magnets.

What kind of magnets do you recommend (they look like rare earth magnets in the picture), and where can I find them?
