Summary

This is an outdated (but still playable using Third Edition rules) version of Pocket-Tactics. For the new (and much improved) Fourth Edition sets and pieces, check out this collection. We'll be updating the new edition to include rules for all of the Third Edition units, so if you have printed them (or want to), check in for updates and eventually all of those pieces' rules will be available.

We've set up a Patreon page for anyone who's interested in helping to fund us so we can keep making free and open sourced games like Pocket-Tactics, Wayfarer Tactics. and others, not to mention the growing catalog of gaming miniatures that you can use for whatever you want! Is there any description or rule, how you add yourself a mercenary unit?

That'll be coming in a rules update, along with multiplayer and campaign rules, but in the meantime, you can either increase the point allowance (each force is 125 points) or play with a sideboard and swap an equal point value of characters in your force for merc units. There's really no wrong way to use them, as long as all the players agree on the use.

Did you guys ever finish the rules update that includes multiplayer and about mercenary units?

Well, there are lots of ways to do it, but with mercs, just swap point values. The points are there to give you a guage on the pieces power level, and you can play with whatever point limit/configuration you and your friends agree on. As for official rules for multiplayer, we never released those, but they'll be in the next edition, which is coming out soon. In the meantime, its easy enough to come up with variations. The one we use is putting all the tiles together, building the map from the middle out, and bases have to be places so they're at least 5 tiles apart.

Also two random questions my friend and I were stuck on. Are you considered adjacent to an Allie or Enemy when there is a wall from a tunnel in between the two pieces but you are on adjacent tiles. Specifically for special abilities and assists?? Also what happens when you attack arcane magic on arcane magic or TECH against arcane magic? I was a little confused in the rules about this.
