Thanks Stuartblarg downloaded and used it, it is a great program
i use a program called Netfabb, you can download the basic version off of their website for free and it allows you to slice stl files into smaller parts.
I'm still fairly new to the 3d printing game, how did you go about slicing this into multiple parts? The printer that I use will not be able to print this in full size in one part.

This is a work in progress just seeing if anyone likes it.

Added Version 2. I changed the grip profile and added the base plate to the grip. let me know what you think.

if you look at the photo you can see where i sliced it to print on my printrbot. It was 5 sections about 2 inches long each. then i glued them together.
I'm currently working on adding all the fine details to your model, as well as improving the dimensions. If able, I'll also be modifying it to have moving parts (removable magazine, moving trigger and cocking lever, removable grip plates, etc.) When finished, I'll put it up here and link you to it somehow.
Fine details would be great, but my bot has limited build volume, so could this be modified to be printed in parts and glued (not ideal) or snap together?
If you know a good method of snap-together parts, I'd love to do that. My current plan is to slice it into the major portions.
Would It be possible to get this cut into Half or maybe 3 pieces? I want to print one but my printer will only has a build area of 6"x6"
i used netfabb to slice it into 5 parts and then glued them back together.
I would love a copy of the photos for reference. Is it also possible to get the model you used to make it? It's a tad long for my print bed and I would need to break it into parts for printing.
i just used a picture off the web. you can slice the model with the free version of netfabb. that is what i used to slice it up to print. with my printer i had to slice it to 5 pieces. rotated them vertical and printed with support.
Gotcha. I was hoping you had a Solidworks or Inventor file for the model. Looks like I"m learning another new program! :-)
i do have the inventor file, but im not sharing those. sorry
This gun is currently on display at the NRA museum in Virginia as part of the guns of hollywood exhibit. I took a few pictures of it. Let me know if you want them for reference.
yea, that would be great. i know some of the details are off.
Sorry this took me so long to get around to posting but here is a link to the one picture I took of it. I thought I took more but I can only find one. flickr.com/photos/lowlight47/9477300302/lightbox/
Any suggestions on printing this? With the barrel open and supports on I imagine the barrel will be full of plastic.
i would slice it to print the barrel standing up. the rest should print with support. some light sanding and then your all set.
Have been looking for this for over a years now!
You can't take the sky from me.
