Tripod mount for Sony Action Cam by rustynoob Apr 6, 2013

Description

The Sony Action Cam comes with a nice waterproof case that can be tripod mounted but the case blocks all the sound so if you want good sound with your video you have to hold the camera by hand. To fix this I designed this 3D printable tripod mount. It should work in most tripod quick releases.

Could you post the source? I'd love to derive a few other mounts.

I did end up having that problem but I melted it back together. There are also a few things I would change if I were still using it but I just made this cap instead so we could use the case. http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

Design is too thin for PLA, because the weak clamp breaks off.

Print it out. I used PLA and support and it turned out well. Be careful when removing the support as there are some small bits you could break.
Have fun

Thank you! I cant wait to try this. Also do you have a special aftermarket lens on your camera? Mine does not look like that!

Your welcome. Let me know how it works out for you. I know not all tripods are identical so if it needs some tweaks to make it more universal let me know. The lens is a mod done by a friend of mine. Sadly it doesn't fit in the protective case with that lens and the fisheye is a bit extreme for most practical applications so it's probably going to go back to the original one.
