Generic Camera Gimbal - Hexacopter / Quadcopter / Tricopter. by JakeKing Apr 8, 2013

Description

STL files for a two axis camera gimbal. Uses a micro servo and a regular servo. I have mounted this on a DJI F550 with landing gear.

You will need :
8 x M3 / 20mm phillips head nuts and bolts
2 x M4 / 15mm nut and bolt for mounting to quad.
Micro servo ( I had a spare metal gear servo, China branded one)
Regular servo ( Again, had a spare so used it)
Some glue for securing everything!

I directly mounted the servos without servo horns using some glue, however if you would like to use standard servo horns I am sure the design would be easily modified.

If there is enough interest i'll put up a video as to how it performs, very simple to build once printed. I used PLA, printed 0.2 layer thickness on a printrbot Jr.

It might need a bit of tweaking, but I think it is a good basis to build from. Attached to my F550 first attempt. Using it with a KK2 board from hobby king.

Hey Pinto,

I had designed this about a year ago, and as such it has probably got a few faults in newer versions of the rendering software. I'm currently rebuilding my printer, so I'll re-design this with brushless motors in mind, and repair some of the STL's here!

Thanks!

The v2tiltservo.stl file has two reversed faces that stop it printing properly.

I like the simpel design of this gimbal.

What camera do you uise? Weight?
How does the direct mount onto servo work out?
Is it any good for video footage? Or just for aerial photograpy?

Hello,

I am trying to modify this gimbal to fit with my servos and a 3DR quad. Any chance you could post the source files?

How wide of a camera can you put in it? I'm looking for a gimbal for my Sony RX100 and connect it to my DJI Phantom using the built in gimbal interface to power and run it.

I would love to see it in action.

I should have some video from the gimbal working from my hexacopter soon, but I have just not had the chance to take it out flying!
