Summary

A clip to lock the IKEA SAMLA boxes so the lid does not fall off. Based on a previous work of _stew_. This version fits for the SAMLA boxes with 5l/1gal, 11l/3gal or 22l/6gal. Other sizes are in development, see the GitHub link below.

The STL is a pre-rendered version with a length of 40mm. The OpenSCAD script is more customizable, but needs obiscad.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

LulzBot

Printer:

TAZ 5

Supports:

No

Notes:

Prints good with any layer height. If you have a logo or text, they can benefit from smaller layer heights. Also no need for infil, just print multiple perimeters. For example, with a 0.35 mm nozzle, 3 perimeters are enough to fill the whole body of the clip.

Post-Printing

If the clip is too tight or too lose for your box, you can heat it slighty with a lighter, torch, blow-dryer or heat gun, clip it to your box with the lid, form it by hand so it fits tightly, and let it cool.

Thank you, it annoys me that they don't come with clips, will be very handy

Exzellent!
I was always annoyed that IKEA does not make these clips for smaller Samla boxes.
This is a prime example for what a 3D printer is useful for
