Here is a design for printmaking plates that I have not yet tested.
It has an interlocking system based on a cylindrical peg, rather than a square peg as I have been using to make prints currently. At times I have found the interlock to be a hindrance to printing so I have cut them off with a knife, should the need arise.
It has been suggested to get a smoother print one may sand the surface or treat it with an acrylic coating such as Polycrylic or equivalent. Any type of artist grade acrylic gel would suffice, I imagine, but I have found it unnecessary as I enjoy the variation when printed as is.
If the plate is warped by the MakerBot printing process, it is possible to places weights ontop of them immediately after the printing is finished. I have found that a few runs under the press will flatten them as well. The plastic holds up remarkably well.
