i assume they would help lengthen the working life of a stepstruder motor by keeping it cooler.
they come in packs of 8 so enough for 2 to each motor

If you have old computers lying around you can simply jack the heatsinks from them, and cut them up with either a hacksaw, dremel, or best a metal cutting bandsaw. I found the individual heatsinks were kinda pricey (the swiftech small copper ones were my favorite though), just chop up some old heatsinks and use artic silver or alumina on them. You can buy thermal tape but I like the epoxy better. I think frozencpu had some cheap memory heatsinks that would likely work as well.
Gotta keep those costs down ^^
Hmmm, I hadn't considered adding heat sinks to steppers before. :P
I wonder if this might make my eggbot-in-a-filing-box less worrisome (I tried it for noise reasons at work, but the steppers would fail the thumb test after a couple plots).
I found that the heatbuild up was worse on the contoller boards, so stuck heatsinks on them. One of these is suitable, although I cannot remember which!

i tried that about 6 months ago and the skipping came back i attached 4 forged copper heatsinks about 1x1x1cm to the bottom of the motor and after a while the skipping returned.

Nice idea! Should prolong their life a bit. If you want to keep cost down, check places like dealextreme and such. I don't know if they got glue with nice thermal conductive properties. Ordinary glue is not recommended at all.
