Description

STLs of a 3D solid modeling exercise. Might be useful to test your 3D printer/rendering skills. Has some nice nooks and non-linear surfaces. Parts should fit together snugly.

This definitely wasn't supposed to be oriented like this. The STL came from SolidWorks, where it was oriented the way it should be. Anyone who'd know how to use this will also be able to rotate it.
As the makerbot doesn't have support material, it would be unable to print this object anyway, but it might be useful with another RP machine or CNC mill...

It doesn't look like it can be printed in a Makerbot standing up like that. I would rotate it.
