Description

NOTE: I ended up switching to this follower instead: thingiverse.com/thing:8625 It works quite nicely.

Added a recess on the back side to insert the bearing bolt heads into. That way you can put nuts on the bearing side to keep them secure instead of relying on drilling/tapping the plastic. I also made the default for the dimensions of 693 bearings. The comments in the scad script show you what to change for whatever bearings you have. Note: 624 bearings are too large! So anything under that should work.

Instructions

Buy some 693 bearings on ebay for about 5 bucks, remove bushings on the belt side, attach this thing, enjoy smoother motion!

About time someone made a better.. It looks good in Pink also, must be fast to change

What size nuts and bolts does this thing need?

I haven't installed mine yet (waiting on the bearings to get here), but if you're using 693 bearings, I'm guessing you'll need 6 M3x20 bolts and 6 M3 nuts.

You just *had* to do it in pink, huh? [grin]

LOL I hear pink makes it go faster :)

I already tried 624s and they are too large. It will not work with 624! My version with 623s is perfect-so good -my platform was still dead level after the mod without touching any adjustments.

Darn! Thanks, I didn't get a chance to check yet... now I have to order them and wait. Waiting sucks.

Awesome work, thanks! (And to Ed and Carmiac too)

I spotted something odd - just after the comment for the trapped nut recess, there are two cylinder operations, one of them just seems to make a tiny flat coin shape that fits entirely within the nut recess. Removing it entirely seems not to affect anything.

Also, I am trying to make the nut rece
sses hexagonal, via $fa=60, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

Nevermind, I just realized that the recess is for the bolt head, and the nut goes on the other side.

Great design btw, I'm using it now, it has transformed my ToM.

Try making a circle and forcing it to be 6 sided. Easy way to make a hexagon in openscad.
