Animatronics is tricky. It requires mechanical engineering in addition to the software and electrical engineering of most of our projects. Normally when I talk with cosplayers just getting started with electronics, I point them toward a light or sound project, to limit the number of variables.

This project reduces animatronics to its simplest case. Mechanical tails are complex stuff, often involving armatures for bones and cable mechanisms to simulate muscles and tendons. Rather that fighting against gravity, we’ll instead make it our ally. Thinking of the tail as a pendulum, a single small servo and a little math is all it takes.

This is the last thing I need for my Terraria Hallowed Armor costume!
Now I need a nice wolf mask...

I'm sorry but not really, this is disgraceful.

Oh lighten up. Some people like these kind of things.
Don't judge a book by its cover.

Someone said furrish?

it looks like a kind of sex toy

You know. Some people like to dress up as humanoid animals. Not for sex but for fashion. I saw a girl at Comic Con with a set of Mythril armor while dressed as a cat. And I didn't judge. And you shouldn't too.

Call me old, but why is all these simple things microprocessor controlled nowdays, when a simple mechanic construction would make it
simple and cheaper?

Can't people think simple anymore? Even the simplest thing has to be microcontrolled now.

I was thinking this exact thing. There is no need for a micro-controller in this. However, with the micro-controller, you could produce more nuanced motion and additional settings. Still, it's overkill though.
