Description

Examples of the new drum feature of the pinion modules of version 6 of the clockwork library.

Allows for adding a drum to any gear or escapement wheel, and includes flanges to keep the string on the drum and out of the gear train.

Depth of the flanges is one half of the defined rim width, or one third of the drum height, whichever is smaller.

Instructions

Invoke pinionDrum() normally, and the drum will now have flanges.

Invoke pinionWheel() or pinionEscapementWheel() normally, and the spacer between the two gears will now be a flanged drum.

Ack! I've been slacking! Will get printing soon...

Awesome update btw

Thank you! I'm working on a new code-base using the library, a clock-building script that has all the logic, and some parameter scripts that hold only the parameters for a given clock.

Should make it easier to share all the enhancements across the various configurations, including the full clock and the test jig. All I'm missing, as usual, is the frame. :-[

Shout out to Emmet for suggesting the flanges!

Are the meshing gears going to be identical heights?

If so so you'll have troubles.
If the flange reaches to the tip of the gear then it will interfere with the meshing between the two gears.

It can be made to work. But you need to make the unsupported gear shorter than the supported gear. This allows clearance for the gear teeth on the incoming ge
ar.

I made the supported gears taller (asymmetrically) to allow clearance.
