Summary

i've bought some PLA spool that have a 30mm hole, they simply doesn't fit in the spool holder the hole is too small and also the rod of the original pieces is too short.
so i've drawn a new spool holdet that fit perfectly in the replicator 2 and 2x, it is also inspired to the original design with some minor improvements to make it a little more durable.

I printed this out in ABS with 10% infill and had the back connector that slides into the back of the 2X pop right off. I'm going to attempt to glue it back on, but did you use a higher infill to make it even more solid? The way the layers print and how it fits on the bot seems weak even if you printed it vertically or horizontally.

it requires support to print: it is intended to be printed "standing up", the support required is not that much, just the ones required to build the octagonal basement. the rest are very few support on the sides that are usually irrelevant

I was trying to do this piece as my first 3D printed part. It started printing and then it occurred to me that it has a massive overhang, I don't understand how this will print without support underneath it (it actually started and it failed). Am I missing something, do I need to add something to the print file? Is it normally printed with the replicator 2X and scaffolding? Any help would be much appreciated (both for my edification and printing the part). Thanks
