USB cable clip tags by dezbot Jun 4, 2011

Description

Sometimes I run out of USB ports and I need to swap a device from the back of the computer. I was tired of guessing which black usb cable went to what so I made some cable clips that can be clipped onto the cable.

Sure, you still have to memorize what clip "1" goes to, but at least there is a unique way to identify it now.

I designed them using the free version of Google Sketchup and have now uploaded the source file.

I really like Sketchup for its inference locking.

No, they do not come loose. They flex around the cable and snap back into place.

They won't come off easily, but they do seem to slide a bit on the cable. If the tolerance was tighter they wouldn't slide and would stay firmly in position.

Pretty clever. What did you use to design these?

I printed it out raftless on the Thing-O-Matic.

There are two files, the one labeled "4 larger clips", has a wider mouth opening and is for fatty USB cables, like the silver shielded ones that come with the TOM.
