Description

I needed some toothbrush holders for the bathroom that could be mounted to the wall. Initially I printed the thing from PieterBos thingiverse.com/thing:5497. Although it was functional after printing it I felt that it took too much material and had an inorganic feel to it with the hard crisp edgess of the design.

I wanted a softer feeling object so I designed these gender coded male and female toothbrush holders in Sketchup. I'm pretty happy with the outcome and its features:

Rounded, soft edges
Small, effecient design with minimal use of material
Snappy tactile feedback when toothbrush gets locked into holder
Embossed with international male / female gender glyphs
Counter sunk mounting screw hole

Here's probably the only video in the world of a toothbrush holder demonstration. First!

Is anyone selling these toothbrush holders. I love them, want 4 please! Let me know. Thx

I would prefer it if it were a toothbrush mounted wall holder. I'm always losing my walls.

I printed a few out several weeks ago and both the female ones broke very soon, while both the male ones are still working. I don't know if that's because my other half is reckless or because half the prints came out poorly.

I do know that these are difficult to print well with 3mm filament and a 0.5mm nozzle, and they could do with some reinforcement at the base of the clips, like a small fillet or chamfer on the inside line.

I love the snapping action on this thing!

Did you calculate the flex, or use trial and error until it worked right?

I just got lucky with a few trial and error prints.

This is a perfect Thingiverse entry. You've got good photos of the printed object, demonstration video, STLs, and source files. Well done!

Hehe yeah mine is a bit bulky i admit :-) these look much better. also cool vid 8-)
