Description

This is a derivitive box with a lattice work top based on "Islamic Pattern Lasercut Box by hirmes "http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:847".

The top pattern is cut out so you can see into the box, the interior pattern on the bottom of the box is only an engraving, without any cutouts.

how much does a laser cutter come for?

I don't know from STL. Feel free to download it in this format and give it a spin. I'd love to see other versions.

Nice! Can you put it into an STL file so i can print it with my huxleY? thanks!

Instructions

This is a small box that can be cut out of any material on a laser cutter, preferably 1/8 inch wood or plastic. The wood gets a nice pattern from the laser burns.

The layout is for a 24x12 piece of material, but there is space leftover for cutting out something else.

The top of the box will be a lattice with the spaces in the pattern cut out. The bottom panel has the pattern engraved, but without cutouts.

Use hardwood settings for the laser cutter for both Vector and Raster.

Before you remove the wood from the laser cutter, make sure all the vector cuts are complete, if any pieces aren’t completely cut through, print another pass with the laser printer set to “Vector only” so that it doesn’t engrave the pattern a second time. You can also isolate the pieces that did not print by deleting completed sections of the box from the design.

Once the laser cuts are complete, assemble the box and glue the seams from the inside using white glue. You can also use a glue gun, but it is not as clean. A photo is included to help with your assembly.
