Modular Recycling System for 3D printers.
-shredder for plastics
..all in one package. These subsystems are on independent bases
so you can store them with ease. They interconnect by placing them side-by-side. The spooling is under the main extruding system to free space and facilitate the filament winding system with tension.
-plastics shredder, manually or motor driven
-filament extruder with extruding speed variation, pulling with speed variation, FILAMENT FLOW SENSOR that stops the system when it recognizes if the filament is no more extruding for any reason, filament spooling with speed variation and winding system with tension, so you have a dense spooled filament on the spool.
-fume absorber and elimination with the use of active carbon filter
-hopper cooling to eliminate any chance of melting the hopper
extruding speed :12 cm/min
tolerance: +- 0.3mm
materials: all known (PLA,ABS,PE,PP,NYLON, etc),
also can extrude all fancy filaments (wood, metal, etc, just mix PLA or ABS with any material powder you want at 10~30%)
of course can accept coloring pellets to color your filament.
max spooling length: 200mt or 2,2 kilos (depends your spool size and the coke hopper). can run many many hours
Energy consumption: 350W peak, 150W/h average
final testing material: ABS, BASF TERLURAN GP22
testing time: 25,5 hours non stop
extruded filament: ~180mt
it is strongly recommended to use the filament sensor on you printer, (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:454584), If you use filament produced by this system in order to eliminate any fluctuations on filament's diameter. The sensor is very accurate and can cope with insane diameter variations (from 3mm to 1,5mm in 1 cm difference)
i am still documenting the project, so any info found here is incomplete.
