Flash Stand for Photography (Canon) by webghost Jun 22, 2011

Description

Really useful if you have remote controlled Flashes. I use mine with a pocket Wizard and a Canon Flash Speedlite 580 EX II. Could also be compatible with other ones.

I'm at GullaschProgrammierNacht and there's a Sony in front of me.

It is reversed.

Minolta (now sony) did have the inverse connection mech of a normal hotshoe, not sure if Sony has changed it now though.

brilliant idea - had a similar thought a few weeks ago when I needed a spare desktop stand for a Nikon flash.

Instructions

There is a small overhang to hold the flash. I added some support material at the inside of the overhang that can be easily removed with a knife. I printed it with ABS at 220° on a Cupcake CNC ultimate with HBP (sanded kapton surface) and it worked fine.

At the bottom i added some pieces of an old mousepad with double faced adhesive tape to prevent from slipping. Thats it! :)

Why the "(Canon)"? The mechanics of a hot-shoe are not brand specific, not even the basic electrics.

Only the TTL protocol.

Well... Sony/Minolta doesn't use the standard hotshoe. :P
