Description
Want to make your own book? Here's a parametric template for those magnet-shut books that are found everywhere these days. It's based on A5, but is fully parametric (the thumbnails show two books with completely different parameters).
The SCAD file and paper size conversion tool: github.com/l0b0/metal-book/
Possible mods: Different closing mechanism, different materials, etching or otherwise decorating surfaces. I'd love to see more fancy books at Thingiverse!

Instructions
First, tweak the material dimensions in the configuration if you want. The parts will resize based on that. For example, if you don't want to use a magnet strip to close it (or are planning to add it as an inlay), simply set magnet_thickness to zero.
To make by hand:
1. Print the OpenSCAD rendering with the "ECHO" statements, so you have all the measurements for building it.
2. Cut out the three metal pieces and the magnet strip.
3. Bend into shape. This can be tricky if the material is resilient, so you may want to drill the bottom filing holes and attach a piece of metal the same thickness as the paper. If you align them correctly, you should be able to bend around it without too much effort.
4. Drill the remaining holes.
To print:
1. Explode the view (just set explode to true) to make it manifold before exporting.
Either way:
1. Attach hinges.
2. Attach the magnet strip or other fastener.
3. Perforate your paper with a hole punch
4. Insert bolts boltdepot.com/Sex-bolts-and-Mating-screws.aspx to keep the whole thing together.

I tried exploding this to print but I can't seem to be able to separate the various elements. I am no openscad expert.
Any help appreciated.
