Key for outdoor watering tap by snrk Jun 27, 2011

Description

My son (see thing thingiverse.com/thing:8845) lost my fathers key for the outdoor watering tap. I learned about it yesterday, and by chance, thing thingiverse.com/thing:9636 had just been uploaded. However, I didn't like the handle in that design, because it didn't look at all like the original key.

I therefore made my own adjustments to the file, so that the model looked a lot more like my imagination of the original part. I also added some embossed text ("Water" and "From Viktor") to the handle just to show off. Uploaded the model I gave away, and a clean one if you can keep the purpose of your keys in your head.

SCAD-file is not parametric, but it´s quiet obvious what to change if you have other dimensions than me.

I know this is a kind of derivative of thingiverse.com/thing:9636 , but I don´t know how to make this apparent.

Is there a thingiverse page for the gray piece? Looks like its a carbonater cap or quick disconnects for a keg.

nope! apparently you can also add the same tag twice to a thing (I think. I say one like that earlier).

Did not! Looks like it's made to handle the exact same function as mine. Nice design.

I printed mine with exterior support because of the overhang of the handle.

The directions could probably be clearer, but to upload a derivative, you go to the original object, then click "I Made One", then you have the opportunity to upload differences. I don't know of a way to take two independently-instantiated objects and link one under the other. I wish there were.

OK! I thought it would be more intuitive. How do you combine several things, ie a mashup of, say, 3 things? Can you include all?
