Aluminium upgrade kit for CNC router by Metalfusion Jun 29, 2011

Description

Machine upgraded to version 2.1! These parts will greatly increase the Z-axis rigidity, especially when drilling and cutting aluminium. All of them can be cut with the machine itself ( some hand finishing such as making the threads is required though )

Z-axis nut holder and top plate supports make the biggest difference, others are not as crucial.

The zip-package contains updated solidworks files including all assemblies and drawings. Aluminium part outlines are provided as dxf and an overview of them with some measurements as pdf.

потрясён ! В Украине такое не сделать... дорого ОЧЕНЬ да мозги с руками врядли у кого дружат... :(

I don't have any "before" data so it's not really possible to make comparisons even if I made some measurements now.

I had a nasty breakdown of the (plywood) z-axis nut holder when drilling aluminium. The whole part just split into two. You could also see the z-axis motor mount flexing as much as 2-3mm. With the aluminium supports the flexing is minimal and the nut holder will be very hard to break.

Have you stuck an indicator on this or run some finish comparisons? Might be useful to know how much of an upgrade it is :)
