Instructions
I am using Blender 2.49 presently with a full size keyboard.
The long version is to:
First start on a blank page in object mode and press numpad 7 for top-down view.
Then spacebar>add>text.
S(scale)>numpad 50, more or less to make it hefty enough to print.
{F9>}-(bottom of page) Font>Load: c:/Windows/Fonts/ ; center-click on the .ttf you want.(for instance - Frscript.TTF)
Next TAB to edit mode with text selected(A or aa or right click or b or bb).
Backspace to get rid of the word "Text" then type what you want.
Tab to object mode.
Next, with the words selected.(A till all selected): Alt C>Convert font to Mesh.
Tab to edit mode, A to select all, numpad 1 for sideview, E>Region then say like numpad 3 for width>numpad enter.
Now type numpad 7 and see the topdown view.
My printer is .18 x .18 x .12 of the largest square that can be scrolled to, so with that in mind I can Scale, Grab and Rotade to make it all fit.
Once you get it sized properly then File>Export>STL
The short version is to numpad 7, from object mode space Add>Text, tab to edit mode, backspace 'text'. type in your stuff, tab to oblect mode, scale, Alt-c>mesh, 1, tab, extrude, A-A> ctrl-n to be sure the normals are correct. Then export to STL.
