Description
This is a work in progress for improving the mechanics of the thwackers in our Store Front Music Project.
The thwackers mechanism houses a solenoid that when pulsed with current throws the attached lever arm. The lever is made from an old plastic clothes hanger.
The general steps required make the thwacker are
1. Download the files
2. Cut on Laser Cutter
3. Assemble
4. Mount on pegboard

We'll post a video when you can see them in action. As a working definition to propose to the OED - Thwacker: Mechanized lever arm capable of hitting other items with a sound that is similar to the phonetic pronunciation of THWACK.
I think in this case "thwacker" refers to the foot pedal drum beater, similar to this: http://www.freepatentsonline.c... , making this an automated drum beater.
Maybe I have it wrong, though, so hopefully crashspacela can confirm or clarify.
What are "thwackers"?
The dictionaries do not carry that word.
