Featured Thing!

Description

I made this to beef up the other end of my old iphone cable which is showing its age. The 30pin end is supported with Zaggo's dock:

This is one the first things I have created since switching to Alibre for my designing. Compared to the multitude of mesh modelers out there I am very happy moving to a full solid modeling program and love the parametric nature of it. Highly recommended Alibre!

I also very much like the extra gripping cutouts I placed on the sides. I dont know about others but I find yarding the little connector out from the USB port on the backside of my computer more difficult then it needs to be...seems like the designer was looking to make life harder then needed when they not only made the plug as small as possible but also gave it a mirror smooth finish! Sure looked pretty, but I dig the beefy look of its new body ;).

Thanks! Glad you were able to make it work. I highly doubt many peoples printers are dialed in enough to print the studs and holes perfectly...I know I had to do a bit of trimming to make the studs more circular...even with cool enabled.

Great part, but the nubs didn't fit into the holes. Some acetone softened em up enough though to get a good fit.

Maybe make the holes a few hundredths of an inch bigger?

this is a great idea the cord to my ipod is in dire need of this.

Instructions

Print out 2 copies, trim around the studs a little as I can never seem to get the wee 3mm pins to print perfectly square, throw a little glue between the halves and squeeze it together. I made the iphone cord hole a little larger then necessary as I was unsure how good my alignment pins would work (amazingly well actually, despite the trimming I needed to do the case halves aligned perfectly)!
