I'm an Industrial designer from Iceland. I worked in the medical equipment industry for close to twenty years but got fed up designing products that are made/designed "for specific lifetime" to fuel industry that is infested with parasites and the bill is always passed down to us the taxpayers/consumers.
Now I run my own design firm in Iceland where I design laser cut model toys and gift products and do some consultancy design work.
I started the business about two years ago and started designing toys for my two boys that where at the time, four and six years of age. They are my R&D team and some of the features of my designs are from them. When I design something new I ask them to assemble and play with it and then I make changes according to their comments. What I have noticed with these toys is that kids play totally different with those, they have much more respect for them since yes, "they made them" and many parents/grandparents have said they are perfect for "quality" hours with their kids. My idea was also to design an App for e.g. Ipad, where kids could design and modify their own models and then hit the "send" button and the file would come to us and we could cut out the toy the kid designed. Thanks and enjoy.
