I've been printing since early 2014 and loving it! I run Mac and have tried most slicing software’s and settled with Simplify3D... although it costs there is no comparison. As for the machine I started with the XYZ DaVinci which was terrible compared to my FlashForge Creator Pro. My new machine is basically a rip-off of the Makerbot, but runs all materials and is much cheaper with the same reliability.
My design work is fairly simple/limited so I just use Tinkercad.com, but suits my needs. I love sharing with other enthusiasts or new comers so feel free to send me a message.
The ever concerning bed issues that we all encountered while learning were overcome by getting a piece of glass cut to fit my build plate, then printing some brackets to hold it and adjusting the Z axis by 5mm to allow for the glass. I now am able to run PLA on one side and leave the blue tape in place and ABS on the other side leaving the Kapton tape on.
