Sharon Brackett is a serial entrepreneur who has help found and lead technology companies for the past decade. In 2011 she founded Tiresias Technologies, Inc. ( www.TiresiasTech.com ) as a new venture to address the unique technical needs of government and commercial interests in the Baltimore/Washington corridor. In 2010 she was selected by Washington SmartCEO Magazine as one of Washington's Smart100 CEOs for 2010 and then did it again in 2011.
Sharon is a seasoned engineering manager and business leader with over 25 years of experience in the computer and real-time systems development arena. Trained as a Computer Engineer, her background runs the range from hardware design and development to real-time operating systems to Internet and web applications development. In her career she has developed systems as complex as ground based telemetry systems, as large as multi-chassis networked real-time distributed control systems and as small as single chip embedded microcontroller devices.
Prior to founding Tiresias Technologies Sharon was President/CEO of the PTR Group. In her ten years there she grew the company from a startup to a staff of 35, and four consecutive appearances on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies from 2007-2010. Building a base of government and commercial customers that sustained that rapid growth.
Before her tenure at The PTR Group Sharon was a co-founder of Lightningcast, Inc. where she served as the VP of Business Development and was responsible for development of a business plan and model that resulted in $4.7MM in first round venture funding. Prior to that position, she served as Vice President of Customer and Engineering Services for Integrated Chipware, Inc. In the mid 1990's she founded, and managed, the Computer Products Division of SPARTA, Inc where she took division sales from $50K to $3.5M in less than 5 years. Prior to SPARTA she has held many positions as engineering manager, group head, and industry standards representative, in both the scientific instrumentation and medical imaging fields
She is a board member of MoringaCommunity.org, a charity that is building a trade school and food preservation education program in Ghana, West Africa. In her spare time she works with youth groups with technical interests such as rocketry and robotics and is active in civil rights and social justice concerns in the state of Maryland.
