Don't try to fix what works, except tensions belts, if I were to build a custom printer from beginning to end without a kit, i would get rid of all tension belts and use ball screws on all axis, oh and linear guide bearings, those LM88 bearings and smooth rods are loud, the pain I go through trying to watch a video with a rickety rack printing beside me.
