Sounds like a matter of dialing in the bed adhesion. There's not a lot of material on the first few layers since it's just the lego-bottom part. I was printing with Makergeeks PLA and my bed heated to 45 degrees, but that will probably vary for different brands etc. Mine also has one of those stick-on print bed mats (it came with it) so that could be a factor. Some people use blue painter's tape or gluesticks to get good first layers, but I've never tried them.
Another option could be to use a brim or raft so there's more to grab onto for those first layers - It'll still be a pain to remove from the bottom, but won't affect the interior like supports do.
